FAQs
(FAQs) Frequently Asked Questions
What type of organization is the SVTPP?
We are a 501(c)(4) non-partisan, non-profit, grassroots, social welfare organization. Our goal is to educate and encourage Virginians to stand up and demand fiscal responsibility, Constitutionally-limited government, and adherence to free-market principles.
Are there membership fees or dues?
No. In fact under our 501(c)(4) status, we don’t have members and can’t ask for dues. We have an e-mail list with “Patriots” who volunteer their time, and make occasional donations to support our programs. Contributions are not tax deductible.
Where and when does the SVTPP meet?
We currently hold monthly meetings in Staunton and Harrisonburg. We hope to expand our meetings to serve more of the Shenandoah Valley.
How can I contact the SVTPP and get more information?

In addition to our website, we have an information brochure, and send out a weekly e-mail/newsletter to keep our patriots informed about events and priorities.
What type of events does the SVTPP promote?
We hold rallies and guest speaker events. We charter buses and operate carpools to travel to Washington, D.C. and Richmond to meet with legislators or hold protests outside legislative offices or government buildings. We encourage patriots to call, fax, send e-mails or snail mails to their elected officials and share their criticisms, or support for various legislation. We participate in parades, and staff an information and merchandise table at area gun shows.
What type of leadership structure does the SVTPP have?
We have a four-member Board of Directors, Director, Deputy Directors, Treasurer, Secretary, and several coordinators for committees that cover the major issues.
Can the SVTPP endorse political candidates?
No endorsements. We can create and distribute candidate information/fact sheets and pass these out at polling locations or other public places.
Are violent protests against elected leaders or government officials condoned by the SVTPP?
Absolutely not. We focus on the important legislative issues and direct our criticism or support for elected leaders based on their voting records and statements on the issues. Violence or threatened violence dilute our efforts and are not appropriate.
What is the Tea Party position on developing a Third Party?
The National Tea Party Patriots, Virginia Federation, and the SVTPP believe that the formation of a Third Party would be counterproductive at this time. We believe in making the Republican Party more conservative and hope to influence the party to return to its roots of fiscal responsibility, small government, free-market principles, and following the Constitution.
How does the SVTPP interact with other Tea Party groups?
The SVTPP is a member of the Virginia Tea Party Patriots Federation. www.virginiateapartypatriots.com. We work together to magnify our impact on the major issues our elected representatives consider at the federal, state, and local levels. The SVTPP leaders participate in statewide meetings and conference calls to coordinate our efforts.
